Customer Reviews: A must have for the Aqualight owner January 13, 2009 AC (USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
These legs fit great on my 24 inch aqualight. Please note they do not fit on my aqualight mini.
I highly recommend these legs for anyone who owns a coralife aqualight other than the mini.
Bright Aquarium Light July 21, 2008 B. Williams (Tucson AZ) Aquarium lights than come with most pet store aquarium packages are all but worthless if you want to grow plants. Usually a 30 gallon tank comes with a 25 watt light, 50 watts would be minimum for plants.
Once you start looking for something stronger you'll soon find lighting can cost more than the aquarium. Cheaper ones can be bulky and hot, better ones go for $100 and up. You'll also find many lights come with bulbs for saltwater aquariums, you can't just by the light without the expensive bulbs.
Coralife makes this freshwater version and is one of the few that offers this in a T5 light at a reasonable price. This compact fluorescent is very bright, perfect for a smaller aquarium. It runs cool and consumes less energy than a conventional fluorescent but remember to get the legs that aren't included, it can't be run unless it's raised above the aquarium.

Without reviewing the light system, because that is not what we are talking about here and can all agree that hi-end lighting is the best.
As far as the leg supports: For four pieces of molded plastic, and four metal inserts to hold lighting for some systems that may cost in excess of $300 - these are crappola!
We understand that when you clean your tank and remove the lighting system you must be careful - however, if you are not being perfectly careful these things will crack. The metal inserts are far from perfect, and the screws that hold the metal in place with the legs are ever so small.
The light system needs to be supported on these units - there either has to be a better way to support the unit, or the support system needs to be revamped.
I suggest that if you found a better way to support the unit - put it online. We would all appreciate the advice.
