I rescue and rehab feral cats. After thousands of uses these dishes are ant-free (no water required). They are easy to pick up and clean and they are 100% effective. I cannot think of a single improvement that could be made.

Our cat's dry food dish was being invaded this summer by super tiny Thief Ants. They appeared out of no where after many years with no problems and though very tiny, swarmed the poor cat's dish in amazing numbers.
So, looking for a solution, I found this dish. Looks great, seems durable and best of all, no ants! Haven't seen a single one since switching to this dish (it's been a few weeks now).
The only caveat, as pointed out in another review, is that the rubber grip on the base, being a ring, rather than a full, circular pad, may not provide enough anti-slip action for some pets on some surfaces. For us, it's been perfect with no problems, but I can imagine that a bigger pet, on a slicker surface, may be able to push one of these around. There isn't a lot of weight to the construction, so the anti-slip ring is what will be holding things in place. Once again, no problem for most, but maybe an issue for some.
Very happy with the purchase.

These bowls are pretty nice, but for the price they aren't great. The gauge of metal is a little bit too thin, so when they get close to empty there isn't quite enough weight left to hold the bowl in place. The dog starts to push it around, spilling water and food. And although the bowl doesn't tip over - it tips and rocks enough to spill its contents. I have to imagine that the anti-ant function of the bowl works very well though, fortunately haven't had to test that out yet. Nice bowls, not exactly anti tip though.

Sadly, this product has not really worked for me. I have had a terrible problem with ants getting into my cat's food that is on my porch. I previously utilized a moat method for keeping ants out. It worked really well, but I got annoyed with the smell and having to change the water so frequently. I bought this product specifically because it is a moat free bowl. I set it out in the morning with dry food in it, and it appeared to be working. The ants swarmed the little bits of food that fell out of the bowl, but never made it into the bowl. By midday, I noticed three ants had found their way into the bowl, which seemed like no big deal compared to the previous swarms I would get. By nightfall, however, I had lines of ants happily marching into the bowl. The design is supposed to deter ants since it initially navigates them away from the food source, but I guess my ants were just too smart (or hungry) because they were not deterred. I hate to see how many will be in there by morning. This product is definitely a let-down.
