5 out of 5 stars Dog went Crazy - Neighbor Dog Wants to Move In - These are Disgusting!!!!   March 9, 2009

Ugh.

We've been buying Happy Hips treats for our 14 year old black lab/springer spaniel mix for about a year because they are SO beneficial for her arthritis. We bought a batch of the Beef Liver to add a little variety to the whole routine - and oh, my gosh!

The dog LOVES these treats! She's ready to put on a tu-tu and prance around the kitchen to beg for them. Forget the dignity afforded to canine senior citizens - this pooch is acting like her old juvenile self! I don't know if they are more potent than the duck or chicken treats, but they sure seem to pack some sort of punch!

I made the mistake of giving the neighbor dog a taste. Now she won't go away! Every time I turn around she's at the back door looking for more - she certainly never acted this way with the duck or chicken!

Did I mention that they were disgusting?? They ARE! Unlike the other "flavors" of Happy Hips these things absolutely REEK! And forget about them looking like "beef jerky" - nope! They're real dried out liver - mostly little dried square bits that remind me of mica or shale (they're almost crystalline). There's no pretending this is anything other than what it is - nasty gross protein of the variety that dogs LOVE! At least it's sanitary and not the dead stuff they like to roll in out in the yard.

Yes, I'll be forced to buy these again. My 14 year old is rather irresistible with her old-lady gray hair, sassy grin, and wagging tail! They are a healthy all natural treat with no added hormones, fillers or other nasty stuff. I just wish they didn't smell so bad!

Dogswell has continued to live up to its stellar reputation with these additive free, wholesome treats for dogs.
I give all of my four footed babies these treats and it adds to an organic diet already rich in good food. I have yet to meet any pup who doesn't love these treats both for the chewy, crunchy needs that dogs need, but also for the total nutrition it provides. If you are worried about the latest pet food recalls from China, these treats have never had to be recalled.

5 out of 5 stars Tempting Treat that Helps Keep my Senior Active!   March 3, 2009

My lab/springer mix (55 lbs) just turned 14 years old two weeks ago. (Her name is Ceilie.) She loves the Happy Hips treats - especially the Duck Breast. Since we discovered the Happy Hips brand treats and added them to the daily routine, my little senior citizen has been running, bouncing and playing again! She doesn't give the stairs a "pass" anymore as she feels more confident climbing them.

When I first purchased these I was almost tempted to taste them myself! They look exactly like what they are - dried meat. They looked very much like beef jerky and I wouldn't be shocked to find out that this is a human grade product. (See the picture we added above that shows the actual treats.) There are no fillers, no hormones, no artificial flavors - nothing is added. In fact, here's the actual ingredient list: Duck Breast, Glucosamine Hydrochloride, Chondroitin Sulfate, Vitamin E Supplement. Since they are naturally low in fat they are the ideal treat for my dog's aging digestive system. Any other "treat" causes her to have loose stools or become become gaseous. Happy Hips brand treats have been the only thing that "worked" for her and she looks forward to getting her daily dose of them!

As a Prime member, I receive free shipping. However, the last couple of times I've bought this item it cost $25.11 on Amazon and would have been eligible for Super Saver Shipping as well. For 6 good sized packages of premium (real meat) treats, this seems a very reasonable price to pay especially since it includes delivery. Honestly, I'd pay much more to continue the health benefits my dog has experienced since we found these yummies!

I hope your pampered oldster enjoys the same benefits our Ceilie has and that their twilight years are full of vim and vigor. Of course, these treats would make ANY dog ecstatic - they're nothing but REAL meat! They don't have to have an AARP card to love them or enjoy their healthy benefits.

My dogs loved them. I'm not sure if it's helped their hips at all.
But I'll keep giving them the chicken strips to find out.
